About Kawa Minamimachi
Kawanan Town, Minamikawachi District, is located in the southeastern part of Osaka Prefecture, bordering three other cities and towns within the prefecture and Katsuragi City in Nara Prefecture. Approximately half of the area is covered by forests, one-third of which is designated as Kongo-Ikoma-Kisen Quasi-National Park. The Umegawa, Ishikawa, and Chihayagawa rivers flow through the town, and agriculture thrives, taking advantage of this abundant natural environment. Eggplants, cucumbers, mandarin oranges, and garden plants are cultivated here. Local specialties include Senryo eggplants, edamame beans, red zuiki (red soybeans), and Ishikawa-wase taro. A popular tourist attraction is the Kanayama Kofun, a designated national historic site. The surrounding area has been developed as a park, allowing visitors to enjoy the changing seasons. Other notable sites include Fudoki no Oka and Saigyo Hoshi.
