Ibaraki City, Osaka Prefecture, is located in the north-central part of the prefecture, between Osaka City and Kyoto City, making it a commuter town. It experienced rapid growth in preparation for the 1970 Japan World Exposition. The city is also rich in nature, with the Ai River and Ibaraki River flowing through it, and Ishidougaoka and Mount Ryuo standing nearby. Tourist attractions include the Kawabata Yasunari Literary Museum, which displays personal belongings of Yasunari Kawabata, and the Ibaraki City Central Community Center Planetarium, which offers planetariums for both young children and seniors. Local events, such as the Ibaraki Festival in July and the Benten Sect Summer Festival Dedication Fireworks Display in August, attract many visitors.
