Hannan City is Osaka's newest city and is an area where residential development is thriving. Located about 45 kilometers from the center of Osaka, the Nankai Electric Railway runs east to west. The main industries are inshore fishing and spinning, and the area is known for its abundance of mantis shrimp and other fish. One of the main attractions is Hakotsukuri Beach. It is a national park and an artificial beach facing Osaka Bay. The park itself is open all year, but swimming is only permitted during the summer. The park has barbecues and several playgrounds where children can play, making it a fun place for the whole family.
