Tamano City is located on the Seto Inland Sea coast at the southern tip of Okayama Prefecture. The coastal area, with its many winding inlets, has long flourished as a natural harbor. It also became known as a salt production area, utilizing the inlets. The year-round warm climate and low rainfall make it a pleasant place to live. The city's specialty products include seafood products such as nori tsukudani (simmered seaweed) and grilled conger eel, as well as agricultural products such as Senryo eggplant and Shonai rice. Other popular products include unique processed foods such as purple sweet potato udon noodles and the Tamageta series. The city is also home to tourist attractions such as Setouchi Onsen Tamanoyu, Toy Kingdom, and Shibukawa Zoo, as well as leisure facilities such as Tamano Golf Club.
