Shinjo Village, Maniwa District, Okayama Prefecture, is an area on the border with Tottori Prefecture. Located in the Chugoku Mountains, the area is surrounded by mountains. Due to this natural environment, the main industries are agriculture and forestry. One of the main tourist specialties is Hime-no-mochi, a unique brand of rice made from processed rice grown in Shinjo Village, Maniwa District, where the temperature difference is extreme. Major tourist attractions include Gaisen Sakura and Mount Kenashi. Gaisen Sakura is home to many cherry trees, and in early spring it is crowded with tourists from outside the prefecture. The Gaisen Sakura Festival is also held around the same time, making it one of the annual events.
