Kusu Town, Kusu District, is located in the Kyushu Mountains, surrounded by a basin of table-shaped plateaus known as mesas, creating a unique landscape. The center of Kusu Town, Kusu District, is the area around Bungomori Station. This area is home to a variety of facilities, including shopping districts and newspaper offices. In addition to the cities and towns of Oita Prefecture, the city also borders Oguni Town in Kumamoto Prefecture. The city also has a roadside station called Dowa no Sato Kusu, which offers a direct sales vegetable market and restaurants, and is surrounded by Mishima Park. Famous attractions in the city include Kusu Onsen, the ruins of Kirikabuyama Castle, and Nishishiiya Falls.
