Hiji Town, Hayami District, Oita Prefecture, is located in the central-northern part of Oita Prefecture, at the base of the Kunisaki Peninsula. Due to its convenient location, approximately 25 km from Oita City, it has recently developed into a residential area for both Oita City and Beppu City, and the town's population is growing year by year. Tourist attractions in Hiji Town, Hayami District, include the Hiji Castle Ruins, home to a bronze statue of Rentaro Taki, said to be Japan's first Western music composer, and Itogahama Seaside Park, where you can enjoy tennis and camping. Local specialties include crops such as Benihachiman oranges and Shirobokyu cucumbers, grown in the town's blessed natural environment. Among these, greenhouse mandarin oranges are a "One Village, One Product" of the town. Castle flounder caught off the coast of Beppu Bay is also famous nationwide as a "One Village, One Product" of the town.
