About Bungo-Ono City
Bungo-Ono City was established in 2005 through the merger of five towns and two villages in Ono County. Located in the southern part of Oita Prefecture, it borders Oita City to the north and Taketa City to the west. The city center once flourished as a commuter town for Oita City, and a new residential area has been developed there. The city's economy is supported by the city's manufacturing industry and various factories. Tourist attractions include Harajiri Falls, one of Japan's 100 best waterfalls; Mt. Sobo, one of Japan's 100 most famous mountains; and the Obira Nature Trail, one of Japan's 100 best walking trails. Other natural attractions include the Okudake River Kawakami Honya and the Jikumaru Kita Rice Terraces. Festivals include the Uchiyama Kannon Sennichi Mairi in January, the Ono Town Dondo Yaki in February, and the Mie Town Manano Choja Festival in March.
