About Sekikawa Village
Sekikawa Village, Iwafune District, Niigata Prefecture, is located in the northern part of the prefecture, bordering Murakami City, Tainai City, and Yamagata Prefecture. It became Sekikawa Village in 1901 and again in 1954, following a merger. While rail and bus services are available, many residents rely primarily on cars for transportation. A popular tourist spot is the ski resort, attracting many winter sports enthusiasts in the winter. The village's popular events include the Oitamon Snake Festival in the summer and the Shimonoseki Festival in the fall, both of which are popular with visitors. The Echigo Sekikawa hot spring resort is also famous, with Takase Onsen, Yuzawa Onsen, Mica Onsen, Takanosu Onsen, and Katsuranoseki Onsen attracting many tourists from both within and outside the prefecture.
