About Higashiyoshino Village
Higashiyoshino Village, Yoshino District, is located in the eastern part of Nara Prefecture. It's a place rich in nature, with the Kinokawa River system and the Takami River flowing through it. There are many buildings within the village that offer insight into the area, such as the Japanese wolf statue, which is said to be where the last Japanese wolf in Japan was captured, and Nyukawakami Shrine, which is said to have been built by Emperor Tenmu. Other buildings, including the Gassho-style building, which was built without the use of nails, are designated cultural properties. The Folklore Museum offers a look at the local climate and lifestyle, and its charming appearance, housed in an old elementary school building, exudes charm. Tourist attractions include Higashiyoshino Onsen and Takasumi Village.
