About Mito Village

Mitsue Village, Uda County, is located in the eastern part of Nara Prefecture, south of the Soni Plateau. The source of the Nabari River is located within the village, and the Ise Honkaido Highway also passes through it. Located on the border between Nara and Mie Prefectures, the village has long had close ties to Ise and the Iga region, and serves as a key transportation hub connecting the Tokai, Chubu, and Kinki regions. The Ise Honkaido Highway, which served as a route for pilgrims to Ise Shrine until the Middle Ages, flourished as a post town on the Ise Honkaido Highway, and the atmosphere of those days remains today. The village's main industries are forestry and agriculture, and forestry has long been the village's central industry. Its straight, sky-high shape represents the village's identity, and it has been designated the village's tree. Maruyama Park within the village is a famous cherry blossom viewing spot.
