Ikoma City is located in the northwestern corner of Nara Prefecture, bordering Osaka and Kyoto prefectures. It is bordered by the Ikoma Mountains to the west, the Yata Hills to the east, and the Kyo Hills to the west. Mount Ikoma is home to a cluster of television antennas broadcasting signals throughout the Keihanshin area, as well as an amusement park, making it a popular tourist spot. The city is also famous for its beautiful night view from the summit. As part of the Kansai Science City, it is home to Takayama Science Town, a cultural and academic research and exchange facility, and is undergoing new urban development. The city's main industry is tea whisks, which are made using techniques passed down since the Muromachi period and are designated as a traditional craft. Other thriving industries include the manufacture of tea ceremony utensils, braided bamboo, and other bamboo products.
