Unzen City, Nagasaki Prefecture, borders Isahaya City and Shimabara City. Formed in 2005 by the merger of seven towns, it is located in the southern part of the prefecture and is a thriving region for agriculture, including potato and onion production, livestock farming, and fishing, including crab and sardines. Tourist attractions include Sanno Natural Park, where visitors can enjoy 360-degree views from the observation deck; Chijiwa Coast, one of Japan's top 100 white sand and green pine beaches; Jindai-koji, an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings; and the Nabeshima Residence at Kunimi Jindai-koji Historic and Cultural Park. Events in the city include the Chijiwa Cup Paragliding Tour in the summer and the Kunimi Town Soccer Festival, unique to Nagasaki Prefecture, which places great emphasis on soccer.
