Sasebo City in Nagasaki Prefecture borders Matsuura City, Hirado City, and Saga Prefecture. Following a merger in 2006, the city also included some remote islands. The city is rich in nature, with many mountains and rivers. Tourist attractions in the area include Tenkaiho, an observation park overlooking the ocean where you can enjoy rape blossoms in spring and cosmos in autumn; Nagakushiyama Park, which offers views of the Kujukushima Islands, one of the 100 scenic views of the Kujukushima Islands; and the nationally renowned Huis Ten Bosch. Events include the Sasebo Seaside Festival, held in the summer. Local specialties include Kujukushima oysters and Sasebo burgers. Sasebo City also boasts a thriving industry, commerce, and tourism sectors.
