About Tokitsu Town
Togitsu Town, Nishisonogi District, is located in the southern part of Nagasaki Prefecture, on the southwestern shore of Omura Bay. It borders Nagasaki City to the south and west, and Nagayo Town to the east. The west side of the town is mountainous, including Mount Dofu and Mount Toriboshiko, while the urban area is located on the plains to the east. The area around Togitsu Port has been reclaimed and is primarily an industrial area. During the Edo period, Togitsu Port served as a transportation hub, serving as a shortcut to the Nagasaki Kaido Highway, thanks to the shipping service between the port and Sonogi Port. This road was also used by feudal lords, and Togitsu developed as a port town and post town. In more recent times, Togitsu became a commuter town for Nagasaki City, but as factories and other businesses were increasingly attracted to the area, it gradually became a town for small and medium-sized businesses.
