Surrounded by the Central and Southern Alps, Takamori Town in Shimoina District is a fan-shaped region with the Tenryu River as its source. From Mount Senjo and Mount Akaishi, you can view the Southern Alps and enjoy the changing mountain scenery throughout the year. One of the town's main specialties is Ichida persimmons. Grown taking advantage of the climate's extreme temperature difference between summer and winter, Ichida persimmons are exquisitely sweet. While the sight of persimmons hanging from eaves has become less common these days due to changing times, it remains one of Takamori Town's distinctive sights in Shimoina District. Events held in the town include the Ichida Lantern Floating Fireworks Festival in the summer. Tourist attractions include Ruriji Temple, where cherry blossoms bloom in the spring.
