Shimojo Village, Shimoina District, Nagano Prefecture, is located in the southern part of the prefecture, adjacent to Iida City and Achi Village. In 1879, two villages became part of Nagano Prefecture, and the village was formed in 1889 through a merger. Oyada spicy daikon radish is cultivated in this area and is used as a condiment for soba noodles. A popular tourist spot is the Shinanoji Shimojo Roadside Station, which offers restaurants and shops selling local specialties. Other hot springs available include Shimojo Onsenkyo Cosmos no Yu, Kutsurogi no Yado Kagami, and Roman no Yakata Gekkabijin. The Tenryu Line boat ride allows visitors to fully enjoy nature. The local hero, the Regional Sentai Kassei Kaman, is active at roadside stations.
