Oshika Village in Shimoina County is surrounded by the Southern Alps. Its main water sources are the Koshibu River and the Tenryu River. Oshika Village's specialty is Oshika Gibier, a dish made with locally grown vegetables and venison. Mountain salt and blueberry production are also thriving. Oshika Village, in particular, was one of the first villages in Nagano Prefecture to begin cultivating blueberries. Blueberries can be harvested from June through fall, and blueberry picking has become a popular tourist attraction.
