About Achi Village
Achi Village in Shimoina District borders Gifu Prefecture, Iida City, and Anan City, and its main water source is the Tenryu River. Sixty settlements are located in the mountains, ranging in elevation from 410 to 2,191 meters. The two villages merged in 2009 to form the new Achi Village in Shimoina District. Its symbols include adonis flowers, lotus azaleas, and weeping cherry blossoms, and its local specialties include gohei mochi, nozawana greens, and dried persimmons. Hirugami Onsen, believed to have first emerged in 1973, is the largest hot spring resort in southern Shinshu. Its proximity to Fujimidai Plateau and Araragi Plateau makes it a popular tourist spot, attracting many visitors year-round. Fujimidai Plateau is popular for its spectacular views.
