About Otari Village
Otari Village, Kitaazumi District, is located in the northwestern part of Nagano Prefecture. Before the war, the village was home to the Jizo Gold Mine. The village also boasts numerous ski resorts, attracting many tourists in the winter. These include Nagatsugaike Kogen Ski Resort, Hakuba Norikura Onsen Ski Resort, and Hakuba Cortina International Ski Resort. The village borders Nagano City, Hakuba Village, Myoko City in Niigata Prefecture, and Itoigawa City. The area is rich in forests, including Mount Norikura, Mount Tenguhara, Mount Tenguhara, Mount Higashiyama, and Mount Korenge. There are also five rivers, including the Himekawa River and the Nakatanigawa River. Tourist attractions include Hirakura Castle, the Salt Road, Ishizaka Forest Exploration Village, and Amakazari Kogen Campground. The village's tree is a beech designated to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the merger, and the village flower is the Ooyamazakura cherry tree.
