Kiso Village, Kiso District, Nagano Prefecture, is located in the central west of the prefecture, bordering Matsumoto City and Shiojiri City. The village's tree is the horse chestnut tree, which blooms with white flowers in spring, and the gentian, which blooms with beautiful purple flowers in autumn. Tourist attractions in the area include a ski resort, which attracts locals and visitors from outside the prefecture in winter to enjoy winter sports. Other attractions include Yabuhara Kodama Forest, which has a jumbo slide and dog run, Yabuhara Shrine, and Gokurakuji Temple. The water from Mizukizawa Natural Forest has been selected as one of Japan's 100 famous waters. Traditional crafts from the area include combs made from pine and boxwood, and Oroku combs. Local specialties include Mitoku Chinese cabbage and corn.
