Agematsu Town in Kiso County is a region experiencing economic growth centered on the lumber industry. A town rich in forests, it became more convenient with the construction of a bypass in 1998. Forest therapy, taking advantage of the lush greenery of the area, is practiced in this area. It originated in Akazawa Natural Recreational Forest, which has been scientifically recognized as a suitable place for a stay. In the summer, the views from Akazawa Natural Recreational Forest, which has been selected as one of Japan's Top 100 Scented Landscapes, are exceptionally beautiful, making it a popular spot. Here, you can ride an open-top trolley, once used to transport lumber and now restored to its former glory. Train tickets are made from cypress and can be stamped and taken home as a souvenir.
