Obuse Town, Kamitakai District, is located in the northeastern part of Nagano Prefecture, bordering Nagano City, Suzaka City, Nakano City, and Takayama Village. Tourism and agriculture are thriving in the town. Apples and grapes are cultivated in the agricultural sector. Confectionery is also produced, with nine Japanese-style shops in the landscaped area. Chestnut confections are particularly well-known, including chestnut kinton and chestnut kanoko, popular souvenirs. Obuse Town, Kamitakai District, is home to 12 art galleries and museums, including the Hokusai Museum, the Japanese Light Museum, the Obuse Museum/Nakajima Chinami Museum, and the Takai Kozan Memorial Museum. The town hosts the Anichi (An Market) in January, the Obuse Temple Art Obuse in April, the Kurinko Festival in July, and the Kitashinano Obuse Film Festival in November. The town's tree is the chestnut, and its flower is the apple.
