About Aoki Village
Aoki Village in Chiisagata County is surrounded by three mountains: Mt. Fukami, Mt. Shidanrei, and Mt. Jukan. The Ueda Basin can be seen from the summit of each mountain. The village's name comes from a juniper tree that grew near Aoki Junior High School. The roots are divided into three parts and stored at the elementary school, junior high school, and cultural center. Tourist attractions include Daihoji Temple, home to a national treasure's three-story pagoda; the Shunara Stone Buddha Group, with its 860 stone Buddha statues; and Tsukaana Kofun. The village is also home to the national hot spring resorts of Kutsukake Onsen and Tazawa Onsen. Aoki Village in Chiisagata County hosts a marathon in April themed "Run Through the Village of the Righteous People!"; the Iris Festival, from May to mid-June, where visitors can enjoy the irises; and the Aoki Village Summer Festival in August.
