About Nobeoka City
Nobeoka City thrives as the central city of northern Miyazaki Prefecture. It was designated a new industrial city in 1962. Five rivers flow through the city: the Gokase River, the Iwaiko River, the Okita River, the Hama River, and the Ose River. It is also home to abundant water sources. It borders Saiki City in Oita Prefecture and Monzen Town in Miyazaki Prefecture. JR Kyushu's Nippo Main Line runs north and south through Nobeoka City. Nobeoka Station is the rail hub, and express trains to Miyazaki Airport take approximately 70 minutes. Tourist attractions include the Nobeoka Castle Ruins, listed as one of Japan's 100 Best Historical Parks; Gyokado Falls, listed as one of Japan's 100 Best Waterfalls; and Atago Mountain, listed as one of Japan's 100 Best Night Views. Leisure spots include the Sumie Family Aquarium, Nobeoka Botanical Garden, and Nishishina Sports Park. The Imayama Toka Ebisu festival is held here every February.
