About Nishimera Village
Nishimera Village, Koyu District, Miyazaki Prefecture, is located in the southernmost central part of Miyazaki Prefecture and is the least populated village in the prefecture. Established in 1889 with the implementation of the Town and Village System, the village boasts a history spanning over 120 years. In recent years, the village has implemented the "Nishimera Working Holiday Program" as a tourist attraction, attracting approximately 50 participants annually from as far north as Hokkaido and as far south as Okinawa, achieving significant results in expanding the village's population and revitalizing the depopulated area. The Hitotsuse River, which flows through the village, is nationally renowned as a mecca for yamame and ayu fishing, making it a popular spot for fishing-loving tourists. The valley, offering beautiful scenery throughout the seasons, is also an ideal place for camping.
