Kijyo Town, Koyu District, Miyazaki Prefecture, is located almost in the center of the prefecture. The Komaru River flows through the center of the town, and except for some cultivated land along the river, the town is surrounded by steep mountainous terrain. It is the warmest region in the prefecture, characterized by its Nankai climate. Tourist attractions in Kijyo Town, Koyu District, include the 78-meter-high Gion Falls and Kijyo Onsen, which is centered around an open-air bath. Local specialties include "Akumaki," a chewy noodle made with local ingredients, and KK noodles, named after the "K" from Kijyo and the "K" from the locally grown konjac yam. The town's specialties are handmade by housewives, and are popular with tourists for the warmth and flavor that can only be achieved through handmade products.
