About Tome City
Tome City is adjacent to Ishinomaki City and Ichinoseki City in Iwate Prefecture, and was newly formed through a merger in 2005. The northeastern part of the city is surrounded by mountains, making it a thriving forestry industry. The hilly western region is home to rice farming, known as the main producer of Miyagi brand rice, such as Sasanishiki and Hitomebore. Dairy farming is also thriving, with brands of wagyu beef such as Sendai Kuroge Wagyu, Hasama Beef, and Ishigoe Beef. There are many tourist attractions, and Izunuma and Uchinuma are home to many migratory birds, making it a great place to observe wild birds, insects, plants, and fish. Naganuma, the prefecture's largest lake, is home to the Naganuma Boating Center. Warazawa Natural Park is known as a famous cherry blossom viewing spot.
