Kawasaki Town, Shibata District, is located in the southwestern part of Miyagi Prefecture, at the foot of the Zao Mountain Range. More than 80% of the town's area is mountainous and hilly. The first ARABAKI ROCK FEST was held in 2006 at Eco Camp Michinoku, located in the National Michinoku Forest, and has been held there every year since. Local specialties include plant-dyed textiles, Aone Kokeshi dolls, and Kawasaki soba, as well as soba daifuku and soba castella made with Kawasaki soba. The town is home to several hot springs, including Ariyama-no-Seki on the Sasaya Kaido road, Aone Onsen, and Sasaya Onsen, attracting many local residents and tourists from across the country. The town also hosts a variety of events throughout the year, allowing visitors to enjoy the changing nature of the seasons.
