Miyagino Ward, Sendai City, is located in the northeastern part of the city, stretching from the area east of Sendai Station to Sendai-Shiogama Port. It is divided into quiet residential areas and rural landscapes, and areas that are the center of logistics and industry. Facing the Pacific Ocean, there is a large coastal park that stretches along the long coastline. Tsutsujigaoka Park is known as a famous cherry blossom viewing spot and has been selected as one of Japan's 100 best urban parks. Miyagino Ward holds the Miyagi Festival in October. This event includes a balloon charity event to pray for the recovery from the Great East Japan Earthquake. Numerous events are also held here, such as the Miyagino Ultra Quiz and stage performances.
