About Natori City
Natori City is known as a city with particularly many cultural assets in Miyagi Prefecture. Located in the center of the city is the Raijinyama Kofun, the largest in the Tohoku region. It's said to have been built around the end of the 4th century, and the area around the burial mound has been beautifully maintained as a historic park. Natori City is also home to Sendai Airport, which attracts many tourists visiting Miyagi Prefecture. Local specialties include sasa-kamaboko (fish cake) and beetela. Beetela is a castella cake made with beer yeast, with a subtle beer aroma, making it a popular souvenir. The Natori Summer Festival is held every August, featuring events such as a fireworks display on the Natori River, taiko drumming performances, and a yukata contest.
