Kurihara City is located in the northwestern part of Miyagi Prefecture. Eighty percent of the city is covered by forests and farmland, making it a city of lush greenery. Mount Kurikoma towers in the north, towering 1,627 meters above sea level, offering beautiful seasonal scenery. Many tourists visit the city for its hiking, camping, and hot springs. Near the summit, you can see approximately 150 species of alpine plants, including large colonies of day lilies. Migratory birds fly to Izunuma and Uchinuma, located between the city and Tome City, where tens of thousands of swans and white-fronted geese can be observed. Lotus flowers bloom on the lake's surface, and a lotus festival is held. Miyagi rice "Hitomebore" is cultivated thriving within the city, and dairy farming is also carried out.
