About Minamiise Town
Minamiise Town, Watarai County, is located in the southeastern part of Mie Prefecture. The coastline features ria coastlines, including Gokasho Bay, and the entire coastal area is included in Ise-Shima National Park. The town is relatively new, formed in 2005 by the merger of two other towns. It once flourished as the base of the Ise-Aisu clan. Fishing is the town's primary industry, with numerous ports serving as bases for deep-sea fishing, and pearl oyster and yellowtail farming is thriving. Mandarin oranges are also cultivated in the mountainous areas. The town is blessed with a rich natural environment, boasting beautiful bays such as Gokasho Bay and Miejima Heart Bay, as well as numerous other natural spots, such as Hosoya Valley and Oshibuchi Shirataki Falls. The Gokasho Castle ruins are also popular as a historical landmark.
