About Meiwa Town
Meiwa Town in Taki District is located between Matsusaka City and Ise City. Facing Ise Bay, the town has a thriving fishing industry, with clams and black seaweed coming on stream. Agriculture is also thriving, with rice, strawberries, melons, tomatoes, and radishes grown. Among these, the town is a major producer of Misono Daikon, the ingredient used in Ise City's specialty, "Ise Takuan." Meiwa Town in Taki District hosts a variety of events throughout the year. Many traditional festivals are still held today, including the Oyodo Gion Festival, which has been held since the mid-Edo period; the Saio Festival, which recreates a Heian period imperial picture scroll; and the Uji-no-Kakko Dance, which has a long history of approximately 240 years.
