Kameyama City, bordering three cities in Mie Prefecture and Koka City in Shiga Prefecture, flourished as a castle town during the Edo period. The Suzuka and Nunobiki Mountains tower over the city, and approximately 50% of the city is covered in forests, making it a city blessed with abundant nature. Agriculture is thriving, with the city boasting the third-largest tea production in Mie Prefecture. Kameyama City's specialty products include umeboshi (pickled plums), wild vegetable tsukudani (simmered wild vegetables), kada-yaki (grilled yaki), and Kameyama tea. Kameyama City also boasts the largest candle production in Japan, producing a wide variety of candles, not only for gods and Buddhas but also for interior decoration. Popular tourist attractions include the Kameyama Castle ruins, Nobono Shrine, home to the Nobono-Ozuka Tomb, and Taiokadera Nawate, a famous cherry blossom viewing spot.
