Yosano Town, Yosa District, located in northern Kyoto Prefecture, was formed by the merger of Iwataki Town, Nodagawa Town, and Kaya Town. It is located on an alluvial fan in the Noda River in Kaya Valley. Agriculture and the textile industry, known for Tango Chirimen, are thriving in the town. Tourist attractions include Oeyama Rest Square and Kaya Craft Village. Other attractions include Chirimen Kaido, an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings, and Kaya SL Square, where steam and diesel locomotives and passenger cars are preserved. Festivals include the Yosano Town Sunflower Festival, which features 150,000 sunflowers, the Soho Festival held in May, and the Taki no Millennium Camellia Festival. The sunflower is the town's flower, and the camellia is the town's tree.
