About Uji-shi
Uji City in Kyoto is roughly divided into three regions. The eastern region is mountainous, the central region is hilly, and the western region is an alluvial lowland with abundant forests. As it is known as a tourist destination, transportation is well developed, with the Keiji Bypass, Keihan Electric Railway, and Kintetsu Railway all providing convenient access to the city. One of the city's main specialties is Uji tea. In addition to flavorful teas such as matcha and gyokuro, candy, soba noodles, and castella cakes made with Uji tea are also very popular. One of the main attractions is the Tale of Genji Museum. There are many materials on display to help visitors learn about Heian culture, as well as novels from the period, which are a delight for many tourists.
