About Ujitawara Town
Ujitawara Town, Tsuzuki District, Kyoto Prefecture, borders Uji City and Shiga Prefecture. In 1956, the former villages of Ujitawara and Tahara merged to form a town. In 2005, the local mascot "Chappy" was born. In 2011, Kyoto Prefectural Route 62, the Ujikiya Line, and National Route 307 were connected, improving transportation access. Specialties include Uji tea and Koro persimmons. This area is also known as the birthplace of Japanese green tea.
