About Ujitawara Town

Ujitawara Town, Tsuzuki District, Kyoto Prefecture, borders Uji City and Shiga Prefecture. In 1956, the former villages of Ujitawara and Tahara merged to form a town. In 2005, the local mascot "Chappy" was born. In 2011, Kyoto Prefectural Route 62, the Ujikiya Line, and National Route 307 were connected, improving transportation access. Specialties include Uji tea and Koro persimmons. This area is also known as the birthplace of Japanese green tea. Events include the annual Commerce and Industry Festival held in November, which is bustling with people. Tourist attractions include Sarumaru Shrine, which holds a festival on the 13th of each month. The area is actively involved in revitalizing the region throughout the year.
