About Minamiyamashiro Village
Minamiyamashiro Village, Soraku District, is the only village in Kyoto Prefecture. It was formed in 1955 by the merger of Takayama Village and Ogawara Village, both in Sagami District. Neighboring municipalities include Iga City in Mie Prefecture, Nara City in Nara Prefecture, and Koka City in Shiga Prefecture. The village is rich in nature, with the Yamashirodani River, Nabari River, and Shibuku River, as well as Lake Tsukigase. Taking advantage of the abundant natural environment, Uji tea is cultivated. The village's tree is the azalea, and its flower is the mountain cherry. Minamiyamashiro Village's slogan, "We learn together, think together, and build together," is a hometown. JR West operates a service between Tsukigaseguchi Station and Ogawara Station on the Kansai Main Line. Buses are operated by the village bus, community bus, and Mie Kotsu.
