A famous tourist spot in Nagaokakyo City is Komyo-ji Temple, located close to Nagaoka-Tenjin Station. It is the head temple of the Nishiyama Jodo sect of Buddhism, and in autumn, the temple grounds are decorated with vibrant maple leaves. The complex contains 32 buildings, most of which are designated as cultural properties. The grounds also feature a tree said to be 500 years old, which has been designated as a natural monument.
