About Miyazu-shi
Miyazu City in Kyoto, adjacent to Kyotango City and Fukuchiyama City, faces the Sea of Japan. The city faces Miyazu Bay, and the Kurita Peninsula boasts a ria coastline. Miyazu City is one of Kyoto's most popular tourist destinations, second only to Kyoto City and Uji City, with Amanohashidate being its main attraction. It was featured in a poem by Hyakunin Isshu during the Heian period and is known nationwide. Kanahiki Falls is also famous, having been selected as one of Japan's 100 best waterfalls. As the only waterfall in Kyoto, it attracts many visitors, and an event is held on the last Sunday of July. With a drop of 40 meters and a width of 20 meters, the vast waterfall is well worth a visit.
