Kyotanabe City is an area that flows along the majestic Kizugawa River, and is rich in nature. This area prospered due to its convenient transportation, but recently residential development has progressed and the population has been growing at an accelerated pace. One of the fun attractions is Ikkyu Tonchi Road. Ikkyu Karuta cards are posted along a 600-meter stretch, and you can learn about pun stories. It's a great place to take a leisurely stroll and get a feel for the townscape. Another popular tourist spot is Juhoji Temple. This temple has been around since the time of Emperor Tenmu, and has been relocated due to several floods of the Kizugawa River. However, it is an Important Cultural Property, and we recommend visiting it.
