About Kumiyama Town
Kumiyama Town, Kuse District, Kyoto Prefecture, borders Kyoto City and Uji City and is a town rich in nature, with the Uji River and Kizu River flowing through it. It is hot and humid in the summer and sometimes snowless in the winter. The relatively mild climate makes it a pleasant place to live. Agriculture, including rice and Yodo radish, is thriving in this area, and the town has a shopping center for convenient shopping. A famous spot in Kumiyama Town, Kuse District, is the wooden Kozuya Bridge. Locals call it the "Nagarebashi" (Flowing Bridge) because the bridge girders tend to wash away when it rains heavily. It is occasionally used as a filming location for period dramas. In 1988, it was the venue for the equestrian events at the National Athletic Meet held in Kyoto.
