About Kyotanba Town
Kyotanba Town, Funai District, was formed in 2005 through the merger of the towns of Tamba, Wachi, and Mizuho. Neighboring municipalities include Ayabe City, Fukuchiyama City, and Nantan City in Kyoto Prefecture. Post towns once flourished along the Ayabe Kaido and San'in Roads, connecting Kyoto and San'in. This history remains intact, and the area serves as a transportation hub, intersecting the Kyoto Jukan Expressway, National Route 9, and National Route 27. Local specialties include matsutake mushrooms, black beans, chestnuts, beef, and wine. All of these products bear the name Tamba and are nationally renowned as brands. Tourist attractions include the post town of Suji, the Shichishi Cave, which can be viewed from a distance of about 50 meters, and Daifukukoji Temple, home to numerous cultural assets. Around 70 Somei-Yoshino cherry trees reach their peak in April at Kannon Pass.
