Nagasu Town, Tamana District, Kumamoto Prefecture, is located in the northwestern part of the prefecture, bordering Tamana City and Arao City. Choshu Port, located within the town, serves as the sea gateway to northern Kumamoto Prefecture. The area along the Ariake Sea was reclaimed during the Edo period. Prosperous industries include goldfish farming, seaweed farming, shipbuilding, and aluminum sash manufacturing. Local events include the Nagasu Spring Festa, held in the spring; the Hinokuni Nagasu Goldfish Festival, also held in the spring, featuring a gathering of mascot characters and a goldfish scooping competition; and the Noshikora Festival, held in the summer, featuring fireworks and a portable shrine race. Tourist attractions include the Goldfish and Carp Village Square, where children can feed carp and play on athletic facilities.
