Located on the coast, Tosashimizu City has developed alongside the fishing industry, with abundant catches of fatty Shimizu mackerel and Japanese sardines. It is also the birthplace of bonito tataki (seared bonito). Aside from fishing, agriculture is also thriving, with fruits such as dekopon and konatsu oranges cultivated, which are local specialties. Tourist attractions include Cape Ashizuri, located at the tip of the Ashizuri Peninsula. The Cape Ashizuri Lighthouse there is one of Kochi Prefecture's most famous scenic spots, attracting many visitors. Other attractions include the Yoshifuku Residence, a nationally designated Important Cultural Property, and Hakusan Domon, a natural wood cultural property of Kochi Prefecture. The Ashizuri Festival is held in August, and the Industrial Festival is held in December. The city's tree is the aco tree, and its flower is the camellia.
