About Tosa Town
Tosa Town, Tosa District, is located in the northern central part of Kochi Prefecture. 85% of the town's area is covered by forests, including rice fields. In 1955, Mori Village, Tai Village, and Jizoji Village merged to form Tosa Village, which was incorporated as a town in 1970. Due to the town's geographical location, the town experiences temperature differences between day and night. This climate allows for the production of rice terraces. Tosa Akaushi beef and Reihoku Beef are also local specialties. Forestry is also thriving, and the town is known for its timber production. The red-colored center of the cedar tree is known as the "Akame Cedar" or "Tosa's Red Cedar." Tourist attractions include the Sameura Dam and Hiraishi Milk Ginkgo Biloba, a national natural monument. The Miyako Nomushi Okuri Festival is held in June, and the Minamikawa Hyakumanben Festival is held in July.
