Located in the western part of Kochi Prefecture, Mihara Village in Hata District borders Shimanto City and Sukumo City. The Shimanto River is the source of this region, and the entire village is surrounded by lush mountainous terrain. Established in 1889, the village has a long history. While residents enjoy warm temperatures year-round, the village is often subject to typhoons, which can cause significant damage during typhoon season. Agriculture is the main industry supporting the economy. Mihara tea and Mihara rice, grown in the excellent environment at an altitude of 120 meters, are highly acclaimed specialty products. Hinoki cypress, azaleas, and mountain birds are symbols of the region.
