Kitagawa Village, Aki District, Kochi Prefecture, is known as one of Japan's leading yuzu-producing areas. Yuzu harvested in the village are processed into yuzu vinegar, jam, and juice, which are shipped nationwide as specialty products. Kitagawa Village, Aki District, is also known as the birthplace of Nakaoka Shintaro, who lived alongside Sakamoto Ryoma during the late Edo period, and the Nakaoka Shintaro Museum is located in the village. Kitagawa Village Monet's Garden Marmottan, a replica of Monet's garden in Giverny, France, is also famous and is an important tourist spot in the village. Yanase Dam, one of the largest rock hill dams in western Japan, is also famous. Many tourists visit the area to enjoy the natural beauty of the four seasons.
