Kitagawa Village, Aki District, Kochi Prefecture, is known as one of Japan's leading yuzu producing areas. Yuzu harvested in the village are processed into yuzu vinegar, jam, and juice, which are shipped nationwide as specialty products. Kitagawa Village, Aki District, is also known as the birthplace of Nakaoka Shintaro, who lived during the late Edo period alongside Sakamoto Ryoma, and the Nakaoka Shintaro Museum is located in the village. Monet's Garden Marmottan in Kitagawa Village, a replica of Monet's garden in Giverny, France, is also famous and is an important tourist spot in the village.
