Minami Ward, Sagamihara City, is one of the administrative districts that make up Sagamihara City and is located in the central-eastern part of the city. It is divided into seven districts, including Ononaka, Ononami, and Shiniso. Long ago, Asamizodai and Shiniso were training grounds for the Imperial Japanese Army Academy, and the land was reclaimed by repatriates from Manchuria and elsewhere. The ward is home to cultural assets such as the Katsusaka Ruins, Tomayama Muryokoji Temple, and the Nakamura Residence, as well as numerous natural healing spaces, allowing residents to experience the beauty of nature and history in their daily lives. The ward also hosts events such as the Sagamihara Hayabusa Relay Marathon, a Christmas Gospel Live concert, and the Sagamihara New Year's Day Marathon.
